Interesting Place in Singapore

Who didn’t know Singapore? For Asian people, Singapore was very familiar to them. Singapore located in Southeast Asia, a small country with total area 710 Km2 and population about 5 million people. Singapore separated from Malaysia by the strait of Johor in the north and separated from Indonesia by the Singapore Strait in the south. Even though Singapore was a small country, we should not look at it with one eye. Because the fact is Singapore leading in all aspect, including tourism and its facilities.

Talking about tourism in Singapore sounds interesting and it is true. I’ve been there two times. The first time, I went there at 2011, spent a day and then continued to Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) for the next day. And the second, I went there at 2012, spent 3 days and it was really enjoyable moment and of course gave me enough time to explore Singapore. From those experiences, I would like to suggest for travellers some interesting place in Singapore.

1. Universal Studios Singapore (USS)

Universal Studios Singapore theme park located on Sentosa island with total areal 20 hectares. It is the second Universal Studios theme park in Asia, after Japan. The park consist of 7 themed zones such as Hollywood, New York, Sci-Fi City, Ancient Egypt, The lost world, Far far away and Madagascar. In the Hollywood themed zone, there’s special character appearances from Po Kung Fu Panda, Frankenstein’s Monster, Woody Woodpecker, Winnie Woodpecker, Marilyin Monroe, Charlie Chaplin, Beetlejuice and Betty Boop.

The most interesting attraction for me is The pair of dueling roller coasters, Battlestar Galactica : Human Vs Cylon at the Sci Fi City themed zone. This is a high speed roller coasters. The height is 42.7 metres. Human (red track) is seated roller coasters, and Cylon (blue track) is inverted roller coasters. I’ve tried both of them, and I think Cylon is crazy! I felt my heart stop beating for a few second, then continued to breath again. it’s Challenging the adrenaline.

Universal Studios Singapore theme park is really comfortable place. It has so many restaurants and souvenir shops located around the park. It is also give easiness to get the ticket for people who want to visit there. We can purchase it from its website http://www.rwsentosa.com/Homepage/Attractions/UniversalStudiosSingapore . So, it will save the time because we don’t need to queue when we arrive there. The price of the One Day Pass ticket for adult is 74 Dollars Singapore.

2. Merlion Park

Merlion park located on One Fullerton, near the Central Business District (CDB) area of Singapore. Merlion statue is well known as the icon of Singapore. The height is 8.6 metres and the weight is 70 tons. The head of merlion is a lion and the body is a fish. The lion head represents Singapore’s original name (In Malay language, lion means singa). The fish body represents Singapore’s origin as a fishing village. The park was first designed at 1964 and officially opened at 15 September 1972 by The Prime Minister of Singapore, Lee Kuan Yew.

So many tourist who set this place as the first destination when they arrived at Singapore. My tourist guide at that time said to me that Merlion statue also became a symbol of welcoming the visitor to Singapore. At this place, we can see the modern and well arranged city of Singapore. It shows us how powerful Singapore, the lion city.

The length of this road is 2.2 kilometre boulevard. This place simply known as orchard. Orchard is the most famous shopping area in Singapore. This is also the center of retail and entertainment in Singapore. There’s a lot of international brands outlets along this road such as Zara and etc. Many shopping lover will choose Orchard for hunting goods than any other city in Southeast Asia. You also can spend your time here walking arround to enjoy the oriental/mandarin city.
